How to use

  1. Calculate a difference —— Pick two dates to get calendar days, weeks and the working-day count with weekends removed.
  2. Shift a date —— Choose a base date and an offset to get the target date and its weekday.
  3. Including the first day —— If your contract or schedule counts inclusively, add one day to the result.

About Date Calculator

The distinction that causes most confusion in date arithmetic is calendar days versus working days. Contracts, delivery windows, notice periods and holiday entitlement are usually counted in working days, with weekends excluded. This tool reports both.

The second trap is that date differences are not simple subtraction. Months vary in length and leap years add a day, so a naive calculation drifts. The figures here are derived from standard timestamps, which means February 29 is accounted for properly.

One convention worth checking before you sign anything: whether the count includes the first day. A seven-day job starting on the 1st and finishing on the 7th spans six days by subtraction, but seven if the first day counts. Both figures are shown so you can use whichever your contract means.

FAQ

How are working days counted?

Monday to Friday count, Saturday and Sunday are removed. Public holidays are not subtracted, because they differ by country and year — check the official calendar for those.

Should I add one day to the result?

It depends on the context. A seven-day period starting on the 1st and ending on the 7th is six days apart but seven days inclusive. Agree the convention before signing anything.

Can it handle lunar or fiscal calendars?

No — this tool works with the Gregorian calendar only. Other calendar systems involve different month lengths and intercalation rules.
