Background Remover
Strip a solid background off your product photos and export transparent PNGs or clean white backgrounds — in bulk, all on your own device.
Click on the background you want removed in the image below and the tool will recalculate using that colour.
How to use
- Choose images —— Drag in or select the images you need. Dozens at a time is fine.
- Test with one image first —— Tune the sliders on a single image before running the batch — images from the same shoot usually share the same settings.
- Adjust tolerance —— A clean background wants a low value (15–25). A gentle gradient or soft shadow wants a higher one (35–60). Too high and you will eat into the subject; too low and background will remain.
- Run and download —— Each result appears as a thumbnail. Once they look right, use "Download as ZIP" to grab the whole batch at once.
About Background Remover
How hard background removal is depends entirely on the background. A plain, even background — a shooting table, a white wall, seamless paper, a scan — is a job for an algorithm. A busy background is a job for a human. This tool does the first one properly: it walks inward from all four edges and marks the colour-connected background region, which means it will not punch holes in your subject where the same colour happens to appear inside it, such as a white shirt or the highlight on a white plate.
Where it works well: product photography on a shooting table, white walls, seamless backdrops, scans, spreadsheets and screenshots, logos, stamps.
Where it will not work: cluttered backgrounds, uneven lighting, backgrounds too close in colour to the subject (a pale shirt against a pale wall), and fine semi-transparent edges like loose hair. For those, reach for an AI segmentation tool, or do it by hand in an image editor.
One format note: transparency only exists in PNG. JPEG has no alpha channel, so if you export to JPEG the transparent area has to become a solid colour — which is exactly what the white-background mode is for.
FAQ
Why does the removal look messy on my image?
Automatic removal only works when the background is a solid colour or close to it. Clutter, uneven lighting, or a background that is similar in colour to the subject will defeat any automatic algorithm — those images need manual work. A quick sanity check: shrink the image and glance at it. If you can instantly tell subject from background, the algorithm usually can too.
Why is transparency PNG only?
JPEG has no alpha channel; that is a limitation of the format itself. So whenever you choose transparent output, this tool saves a PNG. Conversely, if you wanted a white background, JPEG is far smaller and better suited to uploading to a store front.
Does it reduce image quality?
The removal itself does not touch pixel values — it only sets the transparency of background pixels to zero and leaves the subject untouched. JPEG export applies mild compression on top. For lossless results, choose transparent output with PNG.
Can I batch images of different sizes?
Yes. Every image is processed independently at its own size. If you set a longest-side value, each one is scaled proportionally so that it does not exceed that value.
There is a white halo around my subject — how do I fix it?
Increase the edge feathering (2–3 px) and nudge the tolerance up. Feathering creates a soft semi-transparent transition at the subject boundary, which is usually enough to hide leftover background fringe.
